There have been fine speeches, tales of intrigue, moments of forgotten lore, and new ways to divide the fandom in the years since David Tennant looked into the camera lens and uttered the heartbreaking words, “I don’t want to go”.

Obi-Wan Kenobi. Television Series Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 9/10

Cast: Ewan McGregor, Moses Ingram, Vivien Lyre Blair, Hayden Christensen, Rupert Friend, James Earl Jones, Kumail Nanjiani, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Indira Varma, Marisé Álvarez, Maya Erskine, Jimmy Smits, Grant Feely, Flea, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Simone Kessell, Ian McDiarmid, Anthony Daniels, Liam Neeson.

Ewan McGregor’s time as Obi-Wan Kenobi always seemed short and one that arguably carried, alongside Ian McDiarmid as Emperor Palpatine, the prequel trio of films that framed the Star Wars franchise to a place where the maligned nature and often heavy-handed criticism is thankfully overlooked.

A Government not afraid of the possibility of its people rebelling against them is one that surely does not exist, for the very nature of Government is to lie through its teeth and sow discord under the banner of freedom. It is up to the individual of how much they can stomach, what lies they are willing to let stand and which ones they need to follow closely in the hope that they will be exposed, and which ones they might openly defy.

Paranoid, Television Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * *

Cast: Robert Glenister, Indira Varma, Dino Fetscher, Neil Stuke, Christiane Paul, Lesley Sharp, Dominik Tiefenthaler, Michael Maloney, Anjli Mohindra, Kevin Doyle, Jonathan Ojinnaka, William Flanagan, John Duttine, William Ash, Daniel Drewes, Polly Walker, Richard Wheeldon, Jason Done, Danny Hutson.

When taking on a big television production, one with a tale that should be enormous and potentially gripping beyond anything else on television in a single year, it often helps the series realise its own levels of genius by not overpowering it with too many subplots and characters to whom the story would not miss one single iota. Some of the greatest mini-series ever have relied solely on the narrow focus, on the detail and not the illusion and it is unfortunately a piece of television advice forgotten largely in the creation of Paranoid.

For the more sceptical age we find ourselves in, where the world has become more polarised in its disbelief’s as it has in its religious fervour, there is surely room for more interpretation of a contentious event than ever before.
