Gary Gardner, You Gotta Find Things To Know What To Keep. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

Do we take enough chances in life, do we explore with the fascination of a child rummaging through every toy in the box just to find the one puppet or model that catches our eye and our soul and to which we forever hold in reverence, whilst still pursuing other toys, other enjoyments in which to compare with? Arguably it could be stated that we do, but it then becomes more about ownership, about possession, and unlike the child, the adult finds they want it all but have no real need for the toy, they just want to covet it and keep it out of other’s reach.

K’s Choice, The City Of Music Two. Album Review.

The humble compilation album can take many forms. In now what seems at times the dim and distant past, as distant to the younger generation coming through now as Sir Edmund Hilary’s and Tenzing Norgay’s ascent of Everest to those growing up in the 1970s, the past when to have your say in music meant taking the pick of the songs you may have proudly bought or even embarrassingly hidden away due to the absurdity of the song and placed onto a C90 tape and perhaps even then handed over with much ceremony to the person you perhaps fancied, the compilation stood for something pure.

Gary Gardner, Privileged. E.P. Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

Having had the honour of seeing Gary Gardener perform live, the music fan could take the news of an imminent release of an E.P. with great pleasure. In fact in some parts of the world the celebrations would be so great that they would be cleaning off the bunting off the streets for weeks! This though being Britain, restrained jubilance is always a key. For there would be nothing worse than taking a well-made pudding out of the oven and adding just another egg to the texture. Gary Gardner is worth more than that and the set of songs he has placed under the E.P. title of Privileged is not just a sign of things to come but the eye raising unrestricted look into a musician’s mind.

Gary Gardner, Gig Review. The Ship Inn, Hoylake, Festival Of Firsts.

Hoylake might not rival its near big city neighbour Liverpool in terms of music history or of touring bands of musicians making their way to soak in the rich ambience and be part of the ever growing chronicles being reported on but in recent weeks it has held a couple of festivals in which musicians and audiences seem to have flocked to in large numbers.
