There is a demonic howl that punctures the thick Devonshire Fog and finds the way to install the first wave of fear in a man’s heart, the moors have the air of the unnatural and spectral feeling its way like spindly fingers through a solid, almost impenetrable web, the hand upon the shoulder, the heavy, phantom breathing of the curse that has weaved its way into the family history is close by and the eyes start to glow blood red, evil and death locked in its slavering, hungry teeth.

For those old enough to remember the period in which an inept leader of the country was finally shown the door and the nation stumbled upon the lost ideals of the Sexual Revolution, Stephen Sharkey’s Sex And The Three Day Week is an homage to the strife, internal conflict of repressed sexuality and people making the most of the black-outs.
Following the successful adaptations of Molière’s French farces, this Christmas the Playhouse presents another fresh adaptation of a classic French comedy. Liverpool-born writer Stephen Sharkey has created the hilarious and absurd Sex and the Three Day Week from Georges Feydeau’s L’Hôtel du Libre Échange. The cast includes Edward Harrison, Natalie Casey, Javier Marzan and Eileen O’Brien and runs from Friday 5th December 2014 to Saturday 10th January 2015.

Coal Hill School in the centre of the East End of London seems to be the centre of the known universe when it comes to the stories concerning The Doctor and his fascination/exasperation for his favourite species and their planet. So much so that not only could the Doctor could be seen as the custodian of Humanity’s existence but when the time comes, he cannot keep away from the school in which some of his most memorable companions and perhaps pivotal moments have taken root. The Caretaker he has been and seems to relish in being.
