Antonello Giliberto, The Strategy Of Chaos. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 8.5/10

What some might perceive as confusion, perhaps even believing that turmoil and despair must surely follow in its wake, chaos is arguably a blunt weapon in which the upheaval caused is in the end an effect of peace, a raging headache that gives way to calm, the rough and white horse topped seas that lead to the adventurer seeking shelter in an unheard of land, an island in which they were drawn to by The Strategy Of Chaos.

Chaos is the stepping stone, a force of nature to which implores change, and demands that those it touches step up to recognise the moment in which transformation can bring a sense of recognition and reorganisation in the outer shells of their life, as well as in the mind.

It is to the fundamental beauty of the mind that Antonello Giliberto seeks to arrange and amend people’s preconceived ideas about Italian music, perhaps long in the tooth of arias and operatic bounds that comes with such fleeting memories being introduced at a young age, instead his third album insists it is part of a modern conversation, an approach modelled upon the instrumental which has more in keeping with the ideas and subtly afforded to the likes of Genesis’ guitarist Steve Hackett than it does with the forethought in some minds of outdated opera.

And yet chaos has always got a surprise in her movement, and whilst the music unleashed by Antonello Giliberto is perfectly and wonderfully progressive, it is to the classical that the music attains its true form, one of strength, of power, of absolutes and across tracks such as Threat and Redemption, Beata Beatrix The Beautiful Vision, The Depths Of My Soul, Iron Shadows In The Moon and Alone In Empty Space, Antonello Giliberto, Dino Fiorenza, Salvo Grasso and Gabriels open up the aftermath of chaos’ storm and see that a new land has emerged, one in which the soil which binds the music together is fertile, ready to bring forth lush temptation and a mark of the exquisite to mind.

The Strategy Of Chaos is never destruction, but perhaps revolution, if it changes a person’s mind at the final result then chaos has done its duty; a duty upheld by Antonello Giliberto with honour.

Antonello Giliberto releases The Strategy Of Chaos on April 30th.
