Award-Winning Play, Broken Biscuits, Returns To The Liverpool Stage.

Award-winning play Broken Biscuits is set to return to the stage at the Royal Court Studio Liverpool.

Following on from the plays sold out successes when it premiered at the Baltic Triangles Lantern Theatre in September 2014, performed at The Unity Theatre along with six Sell Out performances at The Edinburgh Fringe in 2015, audiences will have another chance to catch this award-winning play at The Royal Court Theatre Studio Friday 30th November and Saturday 1st December.

Penned by Liverpool based writer Trisha Duffy, Broken Biscuits tells the story of a friendship pulled apart by the fall out of war. The play centres around Rita played by Scottish actor Leanne Martin and Maggie played by Gillian Hardie (Scottie Road The Musical, Kinky Boots & Mamma Mia) who won best actress for her portrayal of Maggie from Theatre Studio Awards. Living on the same street for a number of years, and with sons the same age, the pair became inseparable best friends. Rita’s only son James and Maggie’s son Paul join the army and are deployed to Afghanistan where James takes a fatal bullet saving Maggie’s son Paul.

Can Maggie save Rita, as her life and their friendship seem to be slipping from her grasp?

A heartfelt and touching drama highlighting the devastation of war proving not all casualties are left on the battlefield. Duffy’s perfect blend of humour and heartbreak leaves audiences torn between laughter and tears.

Tickets for Broken Biscuits can be purchased from The Royal Court Theatre’s Box office.
