Liverpool Fringe’s Inaugural 24 Hour Play Festival Set To Challenge A Team Of Six.

Have you ever wanted to see 24 actors, 6 directors and 6 writers sweat like their lives depended on it? In the name of supporting the Liverpool Fringe Festival, that’s exactly what they’ll be doing on the 2nd March and you can have the enjoyment of watching all the thrills and spills of their efforts.

At 10pm on the 2nd of March, 24 actors, 6 writers and 6 directors will meet in a room, legs trembling nerves dangling, for Liverpool Fringe’s inaugural 24 hour play festival. They’ll be set one challenge, in a team six, consisting of a writer, director and four actors, to write, rehearse and perform a piece of theatre within 24 hour.

The event is the brainchild of the Liverpool Fringe’s Festival Director Sam Buist. Sam Buist first came across the concept of the 24 hour play festival when he was asked to be one of the directors at the ‘Hyde Festival Theatre’s 24 Hour Play Festival’ in 2010 and has been one of the directors at the event every year since (with the exception of 2012). “Every year I go back”, said Mr. Buist, “because the event is such good fun, it’s one of my favourite weekends in the year, and everybody from audiences, through to performers and writers have such good time. I thought the event would be ideal to bring to Liverpool as a warm-up to this year’s Festival”. As well as raising funds for the festival, Buist believes it’s provides a great opportunity for actors, writers and directors to meet each other, and get to make new acquaintances, strengthening the Liverpool theatre scene.

Between them will they manage to meet their challenge or will there be blood on the floor? You can find out first hand, as the six shows will be performed at Lark Lane Community Centre, from half 7 on the 3rd March. There may even be an opportunity for you to win a competition.

Liverpool Fringe 24 hour play Festival will take place at Lark Lane Community Centre, on Saturday 3rd March, 7:30pm.
