Celebrating The 25th Anniversary Of A True Classic Liverpool Tale At The Royal Court.

ABD Productions is celebrating the 25th anniversary of one of the most loved shows in Liverpool theatre with a lavish new production at Liverpool’s Royal Court.

Her Benny was originally published in 1879 and is a book that has been read by generations of Liverpool children.

Silas Hocking’s rags to riches story, in which love and courage are the only two things that keep Benny and Nell going, became one of Liverpool’s best loved musicals with more than 800,000 people having seen the show since it was adapted for the stage by Anne Dalton in 1993.

Stirring songs like As Long As I Believe and Pictures In the Firelight pull on the heart strings as we watch them struggle to survive and Benny fights to clear his name.

A musical that will have you laughing one minute and wiping away a tear the next, Her Benny is one of the Liverpool greats. Tickets are already selling quickly for this truly unmissable family show as young and old alike are booking their seats. The show has had rave reviews over the years and audiences are always keen to see Benny and Nell.

Kevin Fearon, Executive Producer at Liverpool’s Royal Court knew that this was the right place for the show, “Everybody in Liverpool knows Her Benny so well from their childhood and I am no different. When Anne came to me to talk about bringing the show here we all agreed that the show would be a perfect fit for our audience. We don’t do a lot of family shows here so it will be a great opportunity for our regulars to bring their children and grandchildren and introduce them to the Royal Court. We can’t wait to see all of those happy faces!”

Janet Cowley, Sally Wragg in this production says, “I have worked with Opera North, Opera Della Luna, the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company and in the Manchester production of The Phantom of the Opera; but I seem to have waited half my life to discover Anne and her wonderful works.  To be given a role to play which has lyrics, music and dialogue written with such flair and panache is an absolute joy.”

Her Benny is suitable for audiences of all ages. Cast includes Phantom of the Opera’s Janet Cowley, I.T.V. Little Boy Blue’s John McGrellis and The Royal‘s Lindzi Germain.

Her Benny runs from Thursday 25th January to until Saturday 10th February 2018. Tickets and information are available from www.royalcourtliverpool.com or on 0151 7094321.
