Time, If You Dare, To Enter A-Void At The On The Verge Festival.

In a world post-Brexit, let the women of A-Void *Cult drive you on the road to unlightenment. Post-Truth never looked so sexy.

As part of Liverpool’s On The Verge Festival 2017, Liverpool-based theatre company Mooncup Theatre invites you to enter A-Void.

Funded by Arts Council England, A-Void is a dark comedy performance piece which invites its audience to journey with them through an exploration of cult mentality, body politics and propaganda quite literally as it takes place on a bus. Inspired largely by NHS Propaganda of the 2016 Leave campaign for Brexit, Donald Trump’s meteoric and baffling rise to power and other political catastrophes, A-Void commands its viewers to surrender themselves to their Void.

The piece targets 18-24 year olds, with the overwhelming support of Liverpool Hope and John Moores universities, and a cross-section of generations in the communities of North Liverpool, Birkenhead and Widnes.

A-Void challenges human susceptibility by using a combination of theatrical techniques and psychological experiments to coerce its audience as its all-woman cast  assemble their own vehicle to drive public opinion.

Part of the upcoming On The Verge Festival 2017, A-Void is one of numerous immersive theatre pieces taking place across the city from 19th to 22nd October, all in unusual settings. Set up by Hope Street Limited, the festival supports grass-roots creativity in giving a platform to Liverpool’s ever-growing alternative arts scene. A-Void has also been supported by funders including Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts Fund’s and Awesome Liverpool.

Mooncup Theatre, the company behind A-Void, is made up of 4 producers; Rebecca Clarke, Alice Phillips, Lydia Ellen Parsons and Isobel Balchin. Weird, wonderful and worried about the current political climate, Mooncup Theatre calls out for like-minded souls across Liverpool to join A-Void.

Warrington born Rebecca Clarke said of the upcoming performances, “We’re obviously excited to unveil this piece to the people of Liverpool in October. Liverpool is the perfect city to experiment with this kind of comedy performance – the region’s staunch political leanings are no secret, we’re sure a lot of our audience members will be attuned to the teachings of A-Void pretty quickly.

It’s going to be pretty hectic, dark, disorienting , we’re mirroring some tactics of the political elite, hopefully opening some eyes and having some laughs along the way. It’s about making high quality theatre accessible to all communities.”

This view is reflected through further performances in partnership with beacons of community inclusivity including; domestic abuse charity Tomorrow’s Women Wirral, community organisation The Studio Widnes and Stanley Park Liverpool CIC.

Taking place over 5 days, On The Verge Festival promises thrilling and dynamic performances, as they showcase Liverpool’s finest emerging artists, presented in unusual spaces across Liverpool.

Mooncup Theatre advises audience members to wrap up warm! Part of the show will take place on a bus and in a non-heated space. Viewers must also be aware that the performance contains some strobe lighting. All performances carry an age appropriate suggestion of 16+.
