A Merry Month Of Entertainment At St. Helens Theatre Royal This May

There’s a magnificent month of shows to be enjoyed this May at St. Helens Theatre Royal.  With an amazing selection of tributes, hysterical comedy and a special puppetry surprise thrown in too, you won’t want to miss out on the amazing entertainment on offer.

Country music fans will be excited to hear that Patsy Cline and Friends the tribute concert is coming to St. Helens Theatre Royal on Thursday 4th May.

Providing pure country magic, the show pays tribute to legendary artists Patsy Cline, Hank Williams and Jim Reeves and will take you back to those Honky Tonk days which songs such as Honky Tonk Merry go Round, She’s Got You and Got a Lot of Rhythm in my Soul.

Performing as Patsy Cline is Sue Lowry with her powerful renditions of Crazy, Sweet Dreams and I Fall to Pieces. The velvet country voice of Patsy Cline caught Sue’s imagination as a child and led her to become a lifelong fan of country music.

Joining Sue on the St. Helens stage is Mark Robinson who will pay tribute to the ‘Granddaddy of Country Music’ Hank Williams and Lee Davidge who will perform a sensitive tribute to Jim Reeves with his authentic costume and iconic mesmerising voice.

The award-winning production Let’s Hang On, endorsed by Frankie Valli himself, celebrates the music of one of popular music’s most successful bands of all time on Saturday 13th May.

In this remarkable production Let’s Hang On takes you on a musical journey through the prolific career of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. You will hear the story of these blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who wrote their own songs invented their own sound and took the world by storm all before the age of 30.

Complete with a brand-new stage design for 2017, prepare for an electric atmosphere and don’t be surprised to find yourself on your feet and dancing before the night is over.

Local singer Justine Riddoch is bringing the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll to St. Helens on Friday 19th May with Totally Tina.

Justine Riddoch is the U.K.’s Official No.1 Tribute to Tina Turner as voted for by the Agents Association of Great Britain at the 2016 National Tribute Music Awards.

Totally Tina’s entire cast and production team have spent many years creating a show to simply ‘wow’ audiences by endless studying of Tina’s own live performances to bring you the very best, faithful and explosive tribute to the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The critically acclaimed concert style theatre show The Simon and Garfunkel Story is on the road and coming to town on Saturday 20th May.

Following its West End success at the Leicester Square Theatre, London, The Simon and Garfunkel Story is currently the biggest and the most successful Number 1 International touring theatre show celebrating the lives and career of folk rock sensation Simon and Garfunkel.

Using a huge projection screen, the show features 1960’s photos and film footage whilst a full live band perform all their hits including Mrs Robinson, Cecilia, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Homeward Bound, Sound of Silence and many more.

Join legendary comedy act The Grumbleweeds for an evening of laughter, music, magic and more on Sunday 21st May.

It’s a show that’s full to the brim with of laugh-out-loud comedy routines, great singers, theatrical magic and fun for all the family! See exactly what’s kept The Grumbleweeds at the very top of their game for over 50 years as they perform some of their hilarious comedy routines in this non-stop variety spectacular.

They maintain the enviable skill of being able to entertain every conceivable kind of audience. There are very few acts in the history of UK comedy that can stand the test of time and who can boast such a proud theatrical history as The Grumbleweeds.

Closing the month in spectacular fashion, the international phenomenon Puppetry of the P**** will be leaving its mark on St Helens when it visits the Theatre Royal on Saturday 27th May.

Puppetry of the P**** has been hosted in over 35 countries and performed in six languages. Two near naked men (they wear shoes) manipulate their nether regions using the Ancient Art of Genital Origami, providing the audience with a hilarious array of shapes and impersonations which will be projected onto a huge video screen.

This latest incarnation comes fresh from sin city itself, Las Vegas, where the show has been thrilling audiences. This show will feature all of your favourites, including the Eiffel Tower, the Loch Ness Monster, the Pelican and of course, the iconic Hamburger, but will also include a host of new installations that promise to rock you into hilarious fits of laughter.
