Reckless Love, InVader. Album Review.

Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating * * * *

To be bold is often reckless, but to be reckless is to be outstanding and brave, when it comes to Reckless Love it is the abandonment of senses and the opportunity to rise above the everyday; it is the glory and the gain to allow the reckless into your lives and into your heart, for how else does appreciation follow suit.

Appreciation for Finish “merry” Metal band Reckless Love is seemingly endless, the groove is but a distinction and a welcome distraction on a genre that at times can focus too much on taking itself too seriously; one that adds a little much needed colour to the exacting black and pounding delivery. It is an appreciation that is forthcoming in bounds in the bands follow up to the 2013 album Spirit, the full on InVader.

The cruel winds that travels half way round the world from its Siberian plains is no match for the sentimental breeze that crosses from Finland’s overflowing pines and deep water filled lands, the battle of the gusts is nothing but a zephyr caught in a tangle when consumed by the waft of exploring metal with the aim of good humour and the making of merry within.

Produced by Ilkka Wirtanen, the album is fresh, belligerently cool as it succeeds in its aim to make people at least smile whilst listening to the recording, and the ethic of Reckless Love is still fully adored as a statue lovingly created by fellow countryman Veikko Haukkavaara. It is in the pursuit of Metal that the music rampages and glides, it is the softness in the delivery but with the crush of an iron fist that InVader gives the deep satisfaction audiences and fans have come to expect from the Finish band.

The Glam never gives up in its pursuit, it punches away until the brick wall of pessimism is eroded to a fine powder and thrown like confetti into the abyss. Tracks such as Child of the Sun, the superb Scandinavian Girls, Let’s Get Cracking and Keep It Up All Night add layer upon layer of intrigue and memory to a smile that is hard to displace when the album finishes.

An album of great warmth and natural pleasure, Reckless Love is only ever to be admired, never squandered.

Reckless Love’s InVader will be released on March 4th 2016 via Spinefarm Records.
