Steps’ Lee Latchford Evans In Return Of Cult Classic Rita, Sue And Bob Too! At St Helens Theatre Royal.

After breaking Box Office records with previous productions in 2011 and 2012, Andrea Dunbar’s classic Rita, Sue and Bob Too! is returning to St. Helens Theatre Royal in February 2015. The new stage version of the hilarious 1987 cult movie is once again brought to the stage by Regal Entertainments Ltd and producers are now excited to announce an all-star cast.

Lee Latchford Evans, best known as one fifth of the 90’s pop-phenomenon Steps, stars as love lothario Bob. Lee achieved incredible success with the Brit award-winning band, selling in excess of 20 million records worldwide with famous hits such as Stomp, It’s the Way You Make Me Feel and 5,6,7,8. No stranger to the theatre stage Lee has also appeared in numerous productions including Bill Kenwright’s All Creatures Great and Small and the stage production of Grease in London’s West End.

Lee Latchford Evans said, “I’m really excited to take on the character of Bob and join the cast in this fantastic production. This gives me an opportunity to flex my acting muscles and I hope the audience will enjoy seeing a very different Lee on stage as opposed to the pop star they are used to in Steps.”

Star of stage and screen Emily Fleeshman, known for her role in B.B.C.’s Still Open All Hours and appearances in Doctors and Shameless stars as Rita and Merseyside’s Olivia Sloyan whose credits include Linda in the U.K. tour of Bill Kenwright’s Blood Brothers, stars as Rita’s partner in crime, Sue.

Completing the cast is two Theatre Royal favourites; local legend and star of I.T.V.’s Benidorm and past productions Escorts: The Musical and Dirty Dusting, Crissy Rock as Mum and comedy great Micky Finn who audiences saw earlier this year as the pub landlord in the hilarious Show Us Your Tips, reprises his role as Dad after the great reception he received in 2011’s production.

Rita and Sue are two working class girls from a rundown council estate about to finish their final year at school. In their spare time, they earn money babysitting for Bob and Michelle. Without Michelle’s knowledge, Bob embarks on an affair with both Rita and Sue, who take it in turns to have sex with him in his car in the countryside. Michelle eventually finds out and leaves Bob. When Bob later develops a preference for Rita, the two girls fall out.

Be sure to join Regal Entertainments Ltd and watch as the comedy unfolds in this classic tale of love, lust and the ultimate test of friendship when Rita, Sue and Bob Too! returns to St Helens Theatre Royal from Tuesday 24th – Saturday 28th February 2015.
