Young Everyman Playhouse Continues To Grow As ‘Scene Change’ Gives Liverpool’s Creative Talents A New Platform.

Young Everyman Playhouse continues to nurture Liverpool’s creative talent and now a new strand, YEP Producers, will broaden that reach with a new platform called Scene Change. The brand new bi-monthly event will showcase the very best of the city’s freshest talent; from writers to artists, magicians to musicians, comedians to costume designers.

Scene Change is for young people aged 18-26 and is open to all creative disciplines, aiming to highlight Liverpool’s newest arts contributors. Following the launch on Tuesday 22nd October, Scene Change will run every two months in the Playhouse Studio where talented youngsters will share their work with each other and the pubic in the Williamson Square venue’s intimate space upstairs.

YEP Producers want to bring people together from all areas of the arts through Scene Change. For example a film-maker may see a monologue performed and work with them after the sharing to film it, or a director could find themselves working alongside a costume designer as a result of a connection.

Matt Rutter, Director of Young Everyman Playhouse, said, “Scene Change will forge links within the arts community, sharing skills, projects and initial ideas to encourage new work amongst young people.”

Young Producers are running a new £100 bursary scheme which those who need financial backing to help realise their project can apply to. For example, a costume designer could use up to £100 for purchasing materials, or a writer could buy a train ticket to interview someone with a story. The result of the funding, at whatever stage, will be shown at the following Scene Change.

You do not need to be part of YEP take part in Scene Change, just a desire to share your work with like-minded young people. YEP Producers hope the regular event will contribute to the flourishing arts community in Liverpool and the North West.
