Eric’s Announce New And Exciting Gigs In The Run Up To The Festive Season.

Eric’s have announced a set of new shows leading up to the festive period that should be amongst some of the finest evenings in Liverpool during the dark nights and short days ahead.

As well as the fantastic Touchstone, bringing their critically rated new album Oceans Of Time set and with The Von Herzen Brothers on the 26th October and The Beat making their way to the venue on the 19th October, November and December will see The Chameleons, Edgar Jones and John Head, the superb Oli Brown and the sublime The Blockheads all ready to show Liverpool’s music lovers the very best of nights out.

Starting from Thursday 10th October, the list seems to be an endless trip of musical brilliance as the Jon Allen Band make their way to Eric’s.

Jon Allen has been hailed as the new Dylan, the new Rod Stewart.  Well he’s not.  He’s the U.K.’s best hope for a singer songwriter with the talent and experience to be those men for the future. Since the release of his 2009 debut, Dead Man’s Suit, Jon has had Radio 2 playlisted hits with Going Home and In Your Light along with Down By The River and Joanna from 2011′s Sweet Defeat.

Tickets are priced at £8 in advance.

The Beat are known the world over for a string of hit singles, including Mirror in the Bathroom, Too Nice To Talk To, Can’t Get Used To Losing You, Hands off She’s Mine and All Out To Get You. Their songs of peace, love and unity fuse ska, pop, reggae and punk rock and their dynamic live show has garnered them a loyal following at home and abroad. The Beat will be at Eric’s on the 19th October for the venue’s 2nd birthday party. Tickets for The Beat are priced at £15 in advance.

Post punk outfit The Monochrome Set was formed in Hornsey, London in 1978 from the remnants of a college group called The B-Sides (whose members had included Stuart Goddard, later known as Adam Ant.) The band continue to tour in the U.K., Europe and Japan throughout 2012, playing material from their 2012 studio album Platinum Coils (their first album since 1995′s Trinity Road) as well as selections from their extensive back catalogue. The band has now been joined by Helena Johansson from Scarlet’s Well on violin and mandolin, replacing John Paul Moran.

Tickets for The Monochrome Set on Wednesday 23rd October are priced at £12.50 in advance.

Rapidly rising progressive hard rock five piece Touchstone was formed in 2003 by keyboard player Rob Cottingham and guitarist Adam J. Hodgson. However it was the band’s second album Wintercoast that really put Touchstone on the map in 2009, with Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons featuring as a very special guest performing the prelude narration. The album was voted 4th best album of 2009 by PROG Magazine readers and by Classic Rock Magazine’s Geoff Barton in the Critics’ Choice.

True to their name, the Von Hertzen Brothers are bonded by blood and this brotherly connection really shines through in the music. Formed initially as a project in 2000 in their hometown of Helsinki, they have since reached far and wide with their epic rock. Tickets for this show are priced at £12.50 in advance.

Liverpool songsmiths Mick Head and Edgar Jones will be sharing the stage at Eric’s this winter performing collections of their stunning back catalogue old and new.

Jones was originally the bass player and singer-songwriter for The Stairs and has played in other bands such as The Isrites, The Big Kids, Edgar Jones & the Joneses and Free Peace. He has also played as a session musician for several artists including Ian McCulloch, Paul Weller, Saint Etienne and Ocean Colour Scene.

Mick Head first gained attention as a member of cult indie-pop band The Pale Fountains in the early 1980s. After touring for a while with childhood heroes Love, Head went on to form Michael Head & The Strands.   Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band are scheduled to release their debut record, an EP entitled Artorius Revisted, on their own Violette label this month. Tickets for this marvellous night are priced at £10 in advance.

Late 2002 saw Oli pick up a guitar for the first time. Two and a half years later at age of 15 he was invited to America as the guest of American Blues band Blinddog Smokin’. This first trip saw Oli on the same stage as Buddy Guy and Taj  Mahal.  In 2008 Oli was signed to the German Blues label, Ruf Records. Thomas Ruf  flew into the U.K. to see Oli perform and signed him on the spot.

Oli’s debut album, Open Road, was recorded and released in 2008 and received great reviews across the UK and Europe. It was voted the No. 2 Blues album of 2008 by readers of Blues Matters! magazine and it still rides  high in the Blues Charts.

Tickets for Oli Brown are priced at £10 in advance.
