Steve Conte From The New York Dolls To Perform At Eric’s.

Steve Conte may be best known as the guitarist with New York Dolls, Willy DeVille, Michael Monroe and Company Of Wolves or even perhaps as the singer with Paul Simon, Yoko Kanno, Crown Jewels and The Contes. The bottom line is, Conte is no slouch, as a musician or a rock and roller. Now this iconic musician is to come to Liverpool and perform at Eric’s in April.

Working between records and tours as lead guitarist/backing singer with The Michael Monroe Band, Steve Conte records and tours with his band The Crazy Truth and sonically the band lies somewhere between The Stooges and The Stones versus Morphine and Tom Waits. The overall vibe is best described by Conte as “classic roots with a modern twist.” This was demonstrated brilliantly on the bands eponymously titled debut album.

Steve Conte delivers the power, soul and raunchy. He’s a runaway guitar hero on the edge of falling apart with the voice of a derelict angel. Drummer Phil Stewart is equal parts Max Roach and Keith Moon while bassist Leeko was weaned on The Clash and old school reggae.

Tickets for Steve Conte’s gig at Eric’s on April 10th are priced At £12.50 and are available from the Box office or by telephone on 0151 2369994.
